Pub Review - Jolly Tanners
Review
A family-run free house that was awarded CAMRA 2006 North Sussex Pub of the Year. Regular ales are from Harveys and Fullers with two constantly changing guest beers from brewers all over the country (one ale is always a mild). When we visited, the pub had just held their third annual beer festival.
The menu features home-cooked dishes and is supplemented with a daily specials board. We tried the salmon and crab fish cakes, which came with a large side salad and sauteed potatoes. Delicious!
Lighter meals, such as sandwiches, salads and Ploughmans, are available in addition to hot food. On Sundays the menu changes slightly to include three different roasts. Food is only served at lunchtimes and evenings.
It can get quite busy inside but additional tables are available in the lovely garden. There is also a grassy children’s play area, although the climbing frame has now been removed.
Overall, we found the service to be fast and friendly.
